No Snow Days Used So Far For AISD Students & Teachers

We have been experiencing very dry conditions across our area since October of last year. That means no rain and no snow. The Amarillo Independent School District (AISD) builds in several “snow days” into their calendar each year. Those snow days are scheduled for May 29, May 30, May 31 and June 1st. I got to thinking if they don’t use any of those snow days and it does not look like they will at this point, should students and teachers get those four days out of class? That would make the last day for classes on Friday, May 25th instead of Friday, June 1st. Monday, May 28th is the Labor Day holiday.   It might save the school system a little bit of money. You would not have to run buses, have cafeterias open or have maintenance staff on duty. What do you think?
