AFD Responds To A Fire At The Big Texan
The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a fire Tuesday at 8:55pm at the Big Texan Restaurant at 7701 I-40 East. Engine 7 found no smoke or fire showing from the restaurant. Employees were in the process of evacuating occupants from the building. Fire fighters established command and investigated the reported fire. Restaurant management advised firefighters that a grease trap fire had occurred and had already been extinguished. Firefighters confirmed the fire was out and no additional hazard was present. No injuries requiring medical treatment were reported. No structural damage was reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be cooking-related.
