Amarillo Man Killed Wednesday Morning On South Washington
Texas DPS says 23-year-old Kaden Mathias Arenas of Amarillo is dead following a motorcycle vs. semi crash at Washington and Loop 335 Wednesday morning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that at 10:55am, Arenas’ motorcycle, was northbound on FM 1151, and according to witness statements, the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed. A 2017 Freightliner Truck tractor driven by 33-year-old Jose Angel Romero Medrano of Amarillo was southbound on FM 1151 and set to turn left onto the entrance ramp of SL 335. Not seeing the fast-approaching motorcycle, Medrano turned left into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in it striking the Semi-Truck on the passenger side.
Mr. Arenas was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital where he later died from the injuries he sustained.
Texas Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
