The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a structure fire Monday night at 10:43 in the area of Northwest 10th and Adams. Crews found a vacant single-story residential structure with smoke and heavy fire showing from the side and rear of the building. Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack while additional crews established a water supply, conducted primary and secondary searches, ventilated and overhauled the structure.
Hoarder conditions inside the structure complicated firefighting operations, but crews successfully brought the fire under control and completed overhaul. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The structure sustained major fire damage. The fire originated in the kitchen area of the residence.
The estimated dollar loss is under evaluation. The Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and cause of the fire remains under investigation.
