Borger Man Killed In One Vehicle Accident
70-year-old Tommy Lee Powell of Borger was killed Monday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident in the 9800 block of the Old Stinnett Highway of Hutchinson County. Preliminary investigation by the Texas DPS revealed that around 1:20pm Powell’s 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was southbound on the Old Stinnett Highway when it traveled off the road, entered the east ditch, and struck the back of a parked construction dump truck. According to Sgt. Cindy Barkley with the DPS, Mr. Powell was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Hutchinson County Justice of the Peace. The Texas Highway Patrol investigated this accident.
