Show 6.25.26 Hour Two: Just How Much Is The New Utility Billing System Costing Us?
Michael J takes us back to August 13, 2024 when ACM Rich Gagnon introduces the Amarillo City Council and the public to the company the City secured to help move us from a struggling billing system and other concerns to something that the old system to be integrated into. That firm – BerryDunn – sent a representative to address the council, make a presentation, and take questions. Shortly thereafter, the council approved the $7 million ask, but not without some laughter. This past March, a change order was approved for $87,500.00 to be added to the $679,100.00 approved in 2024, the fee being charged by BerryDunn. The change order included $14,000.00 in travel expenses. This past Tuesday, the City Council approved $85,000.00 to pay an outside source to confirm the results of the internal investigation into why the new utility billing software had problems after going live.
