New Speed Limits Along Popular Canyon Corridor

Canyon residents may notice new speed limits along SH 217 between the city and Washington Street. The changes are being implemented by TxDOT.
The section Russell Long Boulevard and SH 217 east to I-27 will be reduced to 45 miles per hour.
East of I-27 to Georgia Street will drop to 50 mph, while the speed limit between Georgia Street and Washington Street will decrease to 60 mph.
The change is part of TxDOT’s “Vision Zero” campaign to prevent traffic fatalities on Texas roadways and ensure the safety of those residents and businesses locating to the Canyon East development.
