New Mexico Man Convicted By Amarillo Federal Jury

A man from Continental Divide, N.M. was convicted by an Amarillo Federal Jury for kidnapping and assaulting a young Amarillo girl from a local truck stop.

32 year Royce Wade Lander was convicted Wednesday of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Lander picked up the victim at a truck stop near Amarillo. He then drove her hundreds of miles along Interstate 40 into New Mexico, where he sexually assaulted her until she was able to escape.

He faces up to life in federal prison.
