New Alert System Proving Huge Success

The Amarillo Emergency Notification system, has over 36 hundred people signed up to receive the service.

The city is using the Everbridge Emergency Notification System to alert residents on a wide array of topics including emergency, and public safety, as well as public safety information including severe weather road closures water and other utility maintenance.

the messages will be sent to residents and businesses on their preferred platforms like cell phones, SMS, home phones, e-mail and others. City Manager Jarod Miller says the Everbridge emergency system allows the city to get out emergency information across all types of devicesensuring that residents have access to real-time public information when it’s needed.

Residents listed in the city’s 9-11 database are automatically subscribed to the alerts by phone. Everbridge also allows citizens to self register, provide additional contact or opt out.
