NATIONAL PARK SERVICE RESCUE

Three boaters on Lake Meredith had to be rescued Wednesday night.

Two women and one man launched their boat from the Harbor Bay ramp.and once out in the water the battery died and they to get a jumpstart from another boat.

The boat died again, leaving the trio stranded around 150 yards from the shore, without cell service.

One person tried to swim to the shore while the other two stayed aboard the boat. Eventually, the two tried to to swim out to the stranded swimmer .

Because of failing light National Park Service dispatched infrared imaging and a helicopter to spot the two people still left in the water.

All three boaters were brought to shore, and weere treated for extreme cold, but noe were taken to the hospital.
