Monday Sports Update – Rangers Take Series From Angels

(Arlington, TX) — Rougned Odor belted a three-run homer in the seventh inning as the Rangers beat the Angels 4-2 in Arlington. He drove in all the Texas runs and leads the majors with 23 RBIs in August. Shin-Soo Choo had three hits and scored two runs. Matt Moore picked up the win in relief. Verlander Gets 200th Win, Astros Top A’s

(Oakland, CA) — Justin Verlander locked down his 200th career win as the Astros topped the A’s 9-4 in Oakland. Verlander gave up seven hits and four runs but held steady to get the win. Houston combined to hit five home runs to back Verlander. The Astros are first in the division at 75-and-49. Gerrit Cole gets the start as the Astros visit the Mariners tomorrow.

Cowboys Get Good News On Martin

(Dallas, TX) — The Cowboys are optimistic starting offensive guard Zack Martin will be ready for the season opener. Martin injured his left knee in a preseason 21-13 loss Saturday against the Bengals. A MRI the next day revealed no ligament damage, but a bone bruise and hyperextended knee. The Cowboys do not know the extent of the hamstring injury to starting free safety Xavier Woods.

Cowboys Return To Practice Today In Texas

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys will continue their preseason practices at The Star in Frisco. They will have an opening ceremony today and have scheduled five open practices at Ford Center. They have wrapped up training camp in Oxnard, California. Dallas will host the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday night in their third exhibition game.

Snedeker Wins Wyndham Championship

(Greensboro, NC) — Brandt Snedeker is celebrating his first win since 2016 at the Wyndham Championship. Snedeker carded a five-under 65 in Sunday’s final round at Sedgefield to finish at 21-under-par for the tournament. Webb Simpson and C.T. Pan tied for second place at 18-under.

Kurt Busch Snaps Drought, Wins At Bristol

(Bristol, TN) — Kurt Busch won the NRA Night Race Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway. Busch passed teammate Clint Bowyer on a lap 478 restart and held on for his first victory since the 2017 Daytona 500. It is his sixth win at Bristol and the 30th of his career. Kyle Larson finished second, while Chase Elliot, Joey Logano and Erik Jones rounded out the top-five.

Robinson Will Start At QB For TCU

(Fort Worth, TX) — TCU coach Gary Patterson has named sophomore Shawn Robinson his starting quarterback. He appeared in six games last season. He beat out Penn transfer Michael Collins. TCU is picked to finish third in the Big 12. The Horned Frogs will kickoff the season against Southern on September 1st.
