Monday Sports Update – Rangers Take 3 Out Of 4 From Baltimore

(Arlington, TX) — Mark Trumbo homered twice and drove in five runs as the Orioles roughed up the Rangers 9-6 in Arlington. The Rangers tallied five runs over the first two innings before the offense cooled down. Drew Hutchison took the loss in his Texas’ debut.

Cowboys Prep For Preseason Opener

(Oxnard, CA) — The NFL preseason ramps up this week as training camp continues. The Cowboys visit the 49ers on Thursday to kick off the preseason schedule. The team held their Blue-White Scrimmage yesterday in Oxnard. Practice resumes today.

Prescott Stands By Anthem Comments

(Dallas, TX) — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott stands by his comments on the national anthem. Some have criticized Prescott’s stance on the anthem. He said last week that he plans to stand and doesn’t believe kneeling creates solutions. Over the weekend a Dallas area-artist painted a mural of Prescott in the sunken place, which references the 2017 movie “Get Out.” The mural is at the Fabrication Yard in the Trinity Groves area.

Former UTSA Player Trying To Make It Onto Cowboys Roster

(Oxnard, CA) — A San Antonio native who was a standout at UTSA is trying to get onto the Dallas Cowboys’ roster as quarterback. Dalton Sturm was a walk-on at UTSA, where he played in 35 games. Sturm threw for over 57-hundred yards and tossed 49 touchdown passes. He also scored seven rushing touchdowns while racking up more than 12-hundred yards on the ground. Sturm is trying to join the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, which is how Tony Romo got on board.

Texans Prep For Preseason Opener

(White Sulphur Springs, WV) — The NFL preseason ramps up this week as training camp continues. The Texans visit the Chiefs on Thursday to kick off the preseason schedule. The Texans are off today before hosting their final practice in West Virginia tomorrow. They’ll leave there and head straight for Kansas City on Wednesday.

Eight Inducted Into Pro Football Hall of Fame

(Canton, OH) — The Pro Football Hall of Fame has eight new members. Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Brian Urlacher and Brian Dawkins highlight the Class of 2018, which got inducted Saturday in Canton, Ohio. Linebacker Robert Brazile, offensive guard Jerry Kramer and front office executive Bobby Beathard also received gold jackets. Terrell Owens is also apart of the class, but he elected not to attend the ceremony and instead gave a speech at his alma mater in Chattanooga.

Justin Thomas Wins WGC-Bridgestone Invitational

(Akron, OH) — Justin Thomas carded a one-under 69 in Sunday’s final round to win the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone. Thomas finished at 15-under-par for the tournament to earn his third victory of the season. Kyle Stanley was alone in second at 11-under, while Dustin Johnson and Thorbjorn Olesen tied for third place at minus-10. Phil Mickelson ended in a tie for 24th at three-under. Tiger Woods posted his second straight 73 on Sunday to share 31st place with several others at even-par.

Elliott Wins First Cup Race At Watkins Glen

(Watkins Glen, NY) — Chase Elliott is celebrating his first career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win after holding off Martin Truex Jr. at Watkins Glen. Elliott beat Truex Jr. by just over 7.5-seconds to win the GoBowling at The Glen. Points leader Kyle Busch finished third, followed by Daniel Suarez and Erik Jones.
