Medical Error Study

Texas Tech Health Sciences Center is attempting to reduce the number of medical mistakes.

The school is joining forces with Boston Childrens Hospital in a five-year project called “Comparing Three Approaches to Communication with Hospitalized Children and Families with Limited English Proficiency”  and it’s meant to improve the quality of care they receive.

The major thrust of the study is to improve communication skills in patient pediatric patients, and their families at the northwest hospital to see how these approaches can reduce medical errors.

Because of the vast number of cultures and languages being spoken in Amarillo,

Texas Tech decided to join Boston Childrens Hospital to try to solve the problem of misunderstanding.
