Mechanical Issues Force Small Plane to Make Emergency Landing at Rick Husband

A small plane with two people and a dog made an emergency landing just before noon at Rick Husband International Airport on February 28th.

The Piper Cheyenne 2 was en route from Colorado to its final destination in River Falls when it reportedly suffered mechanical issues, leading to the landing.

Amarillo Fire Department was there as the plane made the landing, and said the engine lost electrical power and that the pilot could not identify if the landing gear had deployed correctly.

The pilot was able to contact air traffic control by cellphone to communicate before they made their safe landing.
