Martin Luther King Amarillo NAACP Milestones

On Monday, January 16th at the Black Cultural Center, The Amarillo Branch of The NAACP starts its year with a reception with food, beverages, and a membership drive.

The center is located at 901 North Hayden Street from 5 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This year the Amarillo branch celebrates its 80th Anniversary, starting off with its Martin Luther King Day of Service, followed by Black History Month and Women’s History Month.

The Amarillo branch is also experiencing some history of its own with the offices of the President, Secretary, and Treasurer all being held by women.

Those positions are being held by Melodie Graves as President, Jerri Glover as Secretary, and Freda Powell As Treasurer.

The community is invited to come out and celebrate and find out how they can contribute and volunteer during 2023.
