Man Identified In Early Morning Hit & Run Death

The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man found dead on South Washington believed to be involved in a hit-and-run.

Authorities determined that  27-year-old Murphy Maynard was the pedestrian hit by a vehicle based on the evidence at the scene.

The vehicle that hit the pedestrian has not been located and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the DPS office at (806) 277-1711 or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400.

Early Tuesday morning at 5:33 a.m., first responders were called out to Washington Street where they found the victim in the roadway.

The Randall County Sheriff’s Office closed off parts of Washington Street between Southwest 58th Avenue and Farmers Avenue and The Justice of Peace requested an autopsy.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and Randall County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate.
