Man Gets 15 Years For Child Sex Crime

According to the 47th District Attorney’s Office, a man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sex crimes in Amarillo.
Vonqualn Fugett was sentenced for abusing a then 9-year-old girl who did not tell anyone about the abuse until she was 12.
Fugett was in a relationship with one of the victim’s family members. During his trial, the girl told of the abuse she endured – even pointed at Fugett, identifying him as her abuser.
Trial testimony also included the victim’s counselor. Her mother and sister also testified that Fugett was a trusted family friend.
He was found guilty of two counts of indecency of a child by sexual contact.
