LWV Offering Civics Classes

The League of Women Voters is offering Civics 101 classes to deal specifically with voting.
Civics, loosely defined, is the study of the rights and duties of citizens.
LWV leaders feel the new Civics Classes will inform and empower those who attend to value their own vote.
Traditionally, voting participation in Texas is very low, especially in off-year elections.
The three-hour sessions will deal with city, county, and state governments, as well as voting information and more.
The classes will be held at the Southwest Branch Library on September 23rd, the North Branch on October 7th, the East Branch on October 21st, and the Downtown Branch Library on November 4th.
Refreshments will be available during the breaks and prizes will be awarded periodically.
