A story with a happy ending almost didn’t happen. Michael Weirsky of Alpha, New Jersey, won the $273 million Mega Millions jackpot, but he said he nearly missed out. He told New Jersey Lottery officials that he bought the ticket for the March 1st drawing at a store near his home, but got home and realized he couldn’t find his tickets. He returned to the store the next day and found an honest stranger had turned his lost ticket over to the clerk, who gave it back to him. Talk about getting lucky.
