Local Leaders, Organizations Partnering for Spring Break Lunch Outbreak
Shi Lee’s BBQ and Soul Food in Amarillo has partnered with Vessel of Humanity and Compassion and the Family Support Services Youth Advisory Committee to host their 8th annual Spring Break Lunch Outbreak.
Organizer Tremaine Brown saw a need 9 years ago while at Bones Hook park and decided to help students who may not have enough to eat during the break.
Starting Monday, March 13th volunteers from the Youth Advisory Committee will be at schools and parks across the city to distribute the food to those in need.
They will be at Bones Hooks Park from 11 am through 2 pm, Hamlet Elementary and San Jacinto Park at 11:30 am, Mesa Verde and Sam Houston Park at noon, Eastridge Baptist Church and Margaret Wills at 12:20 pm, and finally Will Rogers Elementary and Mary Hazelriggs Park at 1 pm.
