Local Business Shut Down For Non-Compliance Of COVID-19 Order

The City of Amarillo has shut down a business for not following COVID-19 protocol.

Law Enforcement “forcibly’ closed Howell Sand Company in north Amarillo on Friday afternoon after the company refused to comply with quarantine orders.

The Amarillo Public Health Department asked the company located at 2300 East Hastings to comply with the orders after a connection was found to multiple coronavirus cases in Potter County.

The  Howell Sand Company provides materials such as sand, gravel, crushed stone and caliche and also offers services like paving, excavation, demolition, equipment hauling, and project planning.

The business had been told to shut down twice but was continuing to conduct business after telling the city they had stopped.

APD and Potter County Sheriff’s officers conducted the operation.
