A student of Amarillo College’s English Second Language classes was awarded the ESL Student Persistence Award on May 6th.

Khanhthong Sibara, a Thailand native originally enrolled in AC’s ESL program to learn the English language so that she may communicate with her child’s teachers.

She became engrossed in the process and set her sights higher with her education.

As a result of her hard work, she received the Award from the Texas Association for Literacy and Adult Education.

The honor also includes $500.

Sibara is half way finished from earning her GED and will receive it in the fall semester.
