Lake Meredith Drowning

A drowning at Lake Meredith Saturday evening claimed the life of a 2-year-old girl.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens say they responded at 6:00 p.m. to the Sandy Beach area quickly, where they performed CPR on the girl.

They then took her to the Fritch Fortress for more advanced medical care. The Fritch Fire Department blocked off the road to allow an ambulance to come in when a drunk driver smacked into an emergency vehicle holding up response by 20 minutes.

The driver, Elliot Creek, is arrested and has multiple charges against him including public intoxication, interfering with public duties, duty on striking an unattended vehicle, driving without a invalid license, and failure to identify.

The Fritch Fire Chief says they kept up the CPR for about an hour and the girl’s death is being called accidental.
