Today is the fifth day of Kwanzaa. Today is a celebration of Nia, or purpose.

Actually, it’s a day of trying to define what you’re going to do, and where you’re going, as well as what you’re trying to do.

Kwanzaa was originated by Maulana Karenga in 1966, as an alternative to Christmas for African-Americans. While Kwanzaa is nor religious, the goal is to create a sense of pride and unity among African-Americans in relation to their cultural origins
