- One hitch in negotiating a new Farm Bill: The top Democrat on the Senate Ag Committee accuses House Ag Committee Chairman Mike Conaway of trying to take significant amounts of farm program funding away from Midwestern producers and give it to cotton growers in the South.
- USDA’s weekly Crop Progress report shows harvest of the three major Texas summer crops – corn, cotton, and sorghum – all running ahead of normal pace.
- A lot of milk powder is produced in the Texas Panhandle, and, good news: USDA export data shows a surge in sales of such products to foreign markets.
