K-9 Sniffs Out 13 Pounds Of Fentanyl
A K-9 alert on a car pulled over in Oldham County Tuesday led to the discovery of over 13 pounds of fentanyl.
On October 23, a DPS trooper pulled a vehicle over for following too closely, and for the driver not wearing a seatbelt.
The car had three people inside. As the trooper questioned the driver, the actions of the other two raised his suspicion. The consent to search the car was denied by the driver, so a DPS K-9 unit was called in and the pills found.
A field test confirmed it to be fentanyl, enough to kill three million people according to the DEA.
A female passenger told officers the pills were picked up in Phoenix, AZ and were to be dropped off in Nashville, TN. She took the blame for the drugs, saying the other two had no involvement in the distribution.
