Judge Tanner Declares Local State Of Disaster In Valle De Oro
Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner declared a local state of disaster today after the recent flooding in the Valle De Oro community and surrounding areas.
Court documents filed today state the ongoing flooding in Potter County has caused damage and loss of property and presents the immediate threat of additional damage, injury and loss of life and property.
Flooding caused by the recent rains has made accessing homes and property by road almost impossible and unsafe for all vehicles, including first responders.
Evacuation of the flooded areas of the Canadian River basin inside Potter County has been authorized according to the Texas Government Code and no one is allowed to enter that area during the seven day period of the local disaster declaration. First responders being the only exception.
The documents were filed upon advice from officials with training and expertise in response to and rescue from the flooding threats.
