Jerry Jones Not Concerned About Elliott Holding Out Of Training Camp
(Oxnard, CA) — Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said after the practice he is not concerned about Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott missing camp as a holdout. Jones said Elliott can “hit the ground running” and will be in great shape. He continued by saying “we have to be ready to go without him.” Jones said he is unsure if they are any closer to a contract extension with quarterback Dak Prescott. He said he needs to be able to fit Elliott, Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper signed to extensions and remain under the NFL salary cap. Jones remains confident he can sign the trio to extensions.

Blue Jays Silence Rangers’ Bats
(Toronto, Ontario) — Five Blue Jays pitchers combined on a five-hit 3-0 shutout of the Rangers in Toronto. Lance Lynn yielded one run over five innings to take the loss. Shawn Kelley yielded back-to-back home runs to Teoscar Hernandez and Billy McKinney in the sixth inning. The Rangers stranded 10 runners and went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Danny Santana had two doubles for Texas, which is 1-and-6 in its last seven games.
Rangers Starting Allard Today
(Toronto, Ontario) — Left-hander Kolby Allard will start in the matinee today as the Rangers close out this three-game series with the Blue Jays in Toronto. Texas will try to avoid a sweep after losing the first two. The Jays will counter with Sean Reid-Foley. The Rangers return home tomorrow night to meet the Twins.
Astros Split With White Sox
(Houston, TX) — The Astros won the first game of the doubleheader 6-2 over the White Sox in Chicago. The White Sox prevailed in the second game 4-1. Zack Greinke yielded two runs on seven hits to win the opener. George Springer homered on the first pitch. Jose Altuve also hit a solo shot in the win. Springer drove in the only Houston run in the second game. Chris Devenski made an emergency start in Game Two after Gerrit Cole was injured.
Hamstring Soreness Scratches Astros’ Cole
(Chicago, IL) — Gerrit Cole never took the mound for the Astros. Cole was scratched from starting the second game of the doubleheader in Chicago after experiencing right hamstring soreness while warming up in the bullpen. Cole received treatment during the game and will be evaluated further. Cole said he did not believe it was serious. Cole leads the majors with 226 strikeouts and has won his last 10 decisions since a May 22nd loss.

Sod Poodles Win A Pair Over Midland
(Amarillo, Texas) – The Sod Poodles were victorious in the first two games of the four-game set against the Midland RockHounds. Amarillo won in walk-off fashion in Monday’s suspended game by a final score of 3-2 in front for a crowd of 5,383 at HODGETOWN. Edward Olivares played the hero in game one as he singled to right field to allow Ivan Castillo to score from second base. The game one win clinched the Oil-Pan Cup of the Sod Poodles. In game two, the Sod Poodles came back with two late runs to squeak past Midland to take the 5-4 victory. The Sod Poodles continue their four-game series with the RockHounds tonight at HODGETOWN.
