Inspire Amarillo Unveils New Civic Center Design

Alex Fairly and the Inspire Amarillo Group has released their plan and design for the Amarillo Civic Center.

Officials with the group say this proposed $115 million plan will help bring in around 15.9% increase to the City’s portion of the tax bill or a 2.5% increase in our overall tax bills, but will create an additional $42.7 million in annual economic activity.

The group stated that after completion, the Elmore Sports Group has agreed to bring an NHL Double AA Hockey team to Amarillo to become the anchor tenant and operate the building in conjunction with Hodgetown and the Amarillo Sod Poodles.

The plans timeline includes the taxpayer review in January 2021, being placed on the May 2021 ballot,  completion of the architectural drawings in June 2021 with a groundbreaking in February 2022 and completion and opening day in September and October 2023.
