HPFB Boy Scouts Postponing Scouting for Food

The High Plains Food Bank and the Golden Spread Council of Boy Scouts of America will reschedule their yearly “Scouting for Food” event.

Jake Splawn, Program Executive for the Golden Spread Council of Boys Scouts of America. “We are still committed to supporting the High Plains Food Bank in the fight against local hunger and look forward to rescheduling the 2020 Scouting for Hunger food drive to a later and more appropriate time.”

The food bank says that due to the current environment of social distance recommendations and supermarket shortages, financial donations are the simplest way to help alleviate hunger in the Texas Panhandle.

“Safety is our top priority,” said Zack Wilson, HPFB executive director. “The health of volunteers, staff, the people we serve, and our community, as a whole, is something we must exercise caution and diligence in protecting. We look forward to working with the Boy Scouts in the future and will keep the community informed on how else they can support our mission in the meantime.”
