High Plains Food Bank Receives Special Donation From Special Jolly Friend

With help from the Lonestar Santa’s, the High Plains Food Bank now has an extra $2,500 to help lower food insecurity in the Panhandle.

Lone Star Santa’s Charities made donations to 8 of the major food banks in the state to help families affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“The ongoing mission of Lone Star Santas is Disaster Relief for Children through our Convoy of Toys, where members bring Love, Hope and Joy and gifts of Toys to children and families affected,” stated Santa Glenn Westberry, Board of Directors President of Lone Star Santas.“The COVID-19 Pandemic has caused our organization to severely curtail our traditional Convoy of Toys® Disaster Relief activities, as these events require frequent contact with large groups of families and children. Sadly, several planned events across the state have been canceled due to safety concerns. The thought of any person getting sick from attending an event is something that no Santa wants to bear.”

Food banks receiving assistance from Lone Star Santas cover the most populated and worst hit areas of the state including San Antonio Food Bank, San Antonio, Houston Food Bank, Houston, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Fort Worth, North Texas Food Bank, Dallas; Capital Area Food Bank, Austin; East Texas Food Bank,Tyler; High Plains Food Bank, Amarillo and El Paso and Fighting Hunger Food Bank, El Paso.

Tina says the best way for the community to donate is by going to their website and leaving a donation there.

With that money they can not only provide food for family but use that money to help maintain their truck for rural food drop offs and allows for flexibility for their needs.
