Greater Southwest Music Festival
About 8-thousand students are expected to attend the 53rd annual Southwest Music Festival from Thursday through Saturday.
Amarillo Symphony officials say the festival will host students from Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico over the three days.
Organizers noted that the festival will aim to provide students with opportunities for performance, feedback, and growth. Participants will compete in large ensembles, as well as in solo categories, and receive critique from music educators and adjudicators.
The festival will feature special performances by the West Texas A&M University Symphonic Band, the 77th US Army Band, a concert and masterclass with concert pianist Hyeree Roux.
A full schedule of the music festival can be found online at the Greater Southwest Music Festival website.
