Gov Greg Abbott Announces Plans To Distribute Antibody Therapy

Governor Greg Abbott is announcing his plans to distribute an antibody therapy that has been shown to keep Covid-19 infected patients out of the hospital.

The drug called bamlanivimab is used to treat people who have tested positive for Covid and are at an increased risk of severe disease, but are not yet hospitalized.

Governor Abbott says the first allotment of the drug will help health care professionals effectively treat cases of Covid within their communities and help reduce hospitalizations.

Abbott says the antibody treatment will be distributed to hospitals across Texas as early as next week for outpatient use.
