Giving Is Good, But Not On The Streets

With the holiday season coming closer, it’s the time for giving and thinking of others.

However, Amarillo Police are advising that there are instances where you shouldn’t give, primarily stopping to give donations at intersections.

It is dangerous and illegal to stop in traffic, as it impedes traffic flow and could lead to an accident.

There are also panhandlers who will take advantage of people’s generosity.

APD recommends donating funds to local charities that support those in the community to ensure that money reaches where it needs to.

The need is real, but for the safety of pedestrians and drivers, don’t give on the streets.

For information about where you can donate, call the APD Public Information Office at 806-378-4257
