Friday Sports Update – Texas Tech Eliminated From CWS

(Omaha, NE) — Texas Tech is done at the College World Series after getting eliminated last night. The Red Raiders lost 9-6 to Florida in an elimination game. Tech ends the season at 45-and-20. They were the final Texas school left in the College World Series.

Mavericks Acquire Doncic On Draft Night

(Dallas, TX) — The 2018 NBA Draft is in the books. The Mavericks acquired European guard Luka Doncic in a trade with the Hawks. Doncic is a six-foot-eight point forward who has starred in Europe the past couple years. Dallas also added Villanova guard Jalen Brunson, Louisville forward Ray Spalding, and Dayton forward Kostas Antetokounmpo in the second round. The Hawks will get Oklahoma point guard Trae Young and a future first-rounder from Dallas. The Mavs drafted Young fifth.

Rockets Draft G Melton, Trade For F Edwards

(Brooklyn, NY) —  The Rockets selected USC point guard De’Anthony Melton with the 46th pick in round two. Houston also acquired Purdue forward Vincent Edwards in a trade with Utah for cash.

Local NBA Draft Roundup

(Dallas, TX) — A few local prospects heard their names called during the NBA Draft. Texas center Mo Bamba went sixth overall to Orlando. Texas A&M center Robert Williams was chosen by Boston with the 27th pick. SMU guard Shake Milton was drafted by the Mavericks in round two and traded to the 76ers. UT-Arlington forward Kevin Hervey went 57th overall to Oklahoma City. Texas Tech’s Zhaire Smith was chosen 16th by Phoenix but was traded to Philadelphia.
