Friday Sports Update – Rangers Blast Baltimore

(Arlington, TX) — The Rangers piled up 10 runs over the first two innings and cruised past the Orioles 17-8 in Arlington. Five Rangers recorded two or more RBI in the win. Jurickson Profar homered and drove in four. Joey Gallo and Rougned Odor also went deep for Texas. Yovani Gallardo got the win. Texas has won five-of-six.

Cowboys Sign Two, Cut Two

(Oxnard, CA) — The Cowboys are shaking up their roster as training camp continues. Dallas signed offensive tackle Korren Kirven and defensive end Joby Saint Fleur yesterday and released defensive end James Hearns and running back Trey Williams. Both Kirven and Saint Fleur have been in NFL training camps before, but have yet to appear in a game.

Cowboys’ Elliott Sued Over Car Crash

(Frisco, TX) — Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is facing a civil lawsuit from a Frisco resident stemming from a car crash last year. Elliott reportedly ran a red light and crashed into the plaintiff’s car, resulting in serious injuries and the car being totaled. The suit is for more than one-million-dollars in damages.

Hopkins Returns To Camp

(Houston, TX) — Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins is back at practice after missing two days for personal reasons. He looked sharp on the field yesterday. Many veterans had the day off, including Tyrann Mathieu, J.J. Watt and Jonathan Joseph. The Texans open the preseason on Thursday at the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ravens Defeat Bears In HoF Game

(Canton, OH) — The NFL preseason kicked off with the Ravens beating the Bears 17-16 in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. It was the debut of Baltimore rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson, who played the entire second half. Jackson completed 4-of-10 passes for 33 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He added 28 yards on the ground.

Induction Ceremony Tomorrow For Pro Football HoF

(Canton, OH) — The 2018 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame will be inducted tomorrow in Canton, Ohio. Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Brian Dawkins, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens highlight the eight-man class. Owens has chosen not to attend the ceremony and will instead give a speech at his alma mater, Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Tiger, Mickelson Shoot Four-Under At WGC-Bridgestone Invitational

(Akron, OH) — Tiger Woods and Phil Michelson are both four shots off the lead after Thursday’s opening round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron. Woods and Mickelson are in a seven-way tie for 14th place after carding four-under 66’s Ian Poulter is atop the leaderboard at eight-under. Two others are one shot back.

Alabama One, Auburn 10 In Coaches Poll

(Undated) — The first edition of the Coaches Poll is out. Alabama is ranked first followed by Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia and Oklahoma. Auburn sits at number-10.  The TCU Horned Frogs are ranked 16th in the country, while the Texas Longhorns sit at 21st. Texas A&M and Houston also received votes.
