(Charlotte, NC) — The Dallas Cowboys open the regular season on the road as they visit the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte. After off-the-field issues derailed his sophomore season, Ezekiel Elliott is back and ready to run for Dallas. The new-look Cowboys must replace veterans Jason Witten and Dez Bryant in their offense. Cam Newton leads Carolina into a new year following a wild card loss to New Orleans last season. He looks to return to MVP form when he guided the Panthers to the Super Bowl in the 2015 season. Pro Bowler Luke Kuechly is back to lead the Carolina defense.

Back Injury Limits Cowboys DB In Practice

(Frisco, TX) — Starting cornerback Chidobe Awuzie saw limited action in the Cowboys’ practice because of back tightness. Newly-acquired guard Parker Ehinger is also limited because of a knee injury. The Cowboys just acquired Ehinger in a trade with the Chiefs.

Texans Visit Patriots Sunday

(Houston, TX) — The Texans kick off the regular season on Sunday as they visit the New England Patriots. Deshaun Watson and J.J. Watt are fully healed from their injuries and will be on the field. The Texans are on the road for three of their first four games this season.

Rangers Meeting A’s On Road Tonight

(Oakland, CA) — The Rangers will open a nine-game three-city trip tonight in Oakland. Yovani Gallardo will start the series opener for Texas. The A’s will counter with Chris Bassitt. The Rangers are on the road for 16 of their final 22 games.

Astros Visit Red Sox

(Boston, MA) — The Astros look to extend their win streak to six games as they visit the Boston Red Sox tonight. Gerrit Cole takes the mound for Houston in a match-up between two of the top teams in the American League. Boston counters with David Price. The Astros have a 3 1/2 game lead on the A’s.

Tiger Shoots 62 In Opening Round Of BMW Championship

(Newtown Square, PA) — Tiger Woods is tied atop the leaderboard at the BMW Championship following his best round in more than five years. Woods fired an eight-under 62 in Thursday’s opening round in Pennsylvania. It’s his best score since the Bridgestone Invitational in 2013, which was also the last time he won a PGA Tour event. Ryan Palmer shot even par and is tied for 49th.

Serena Advances To U.S. Open Final

(Flushing Meadows, NY) — Serena Williams is once again in the women’s final at the U.S. Open. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion beat Anastasija Sevastova 6-3, 6-love in Thursday’s semifinals. Serena will play 20-year-old Naomi Osaka of Japan in tomorrow’s final. Osaka ousted American Madison Keys 6-2, 6-4 in Thursday’s other women’s semi.

Rockets In Bahamas

(Houston, TX) — The Houston Rockets are doing some team bonding in the Bahamas. Chris Paul posted a photo on social media of the entire team posing on a beach together. The Rockets open training camp later this month.

College Football Roundup

Tomorrow, Texas A&M will face second-ranked Clemson in College Station, Baylor will be at UT-San Antonio, 16th-ranked TCU will play at SMU in the 98th meeting of the two schools, Texas Tech will welcome Lamar to Lubbock, Texas and Tulsa will meet in Austin and the West Texas A&M Buffs will host Oklahoma Panhandle State at 6pm.
