Reports: Banister’s Job In Jeopardy

(Arlington, TX) — Multiple outlets have reported Rangers manager Jeff Banister’s job is in jeopardy. The Rangers have lost 16 of their last 22 games and are in last place in the AL West with a 64-and-88 record. Banister guided the Rangers to back-to-back division titles in 2015-and-16 and was the AL Manager of the Year in his first season. He is in his fourth year as the Texas manager with a contract that runs through next year. GM Jon Daniels has refused to comment on Banister’s situation.

Rangers Home Tonight Against Mariners

(Arlington, TX) — Connor Sadzeck will start the opener tonight as the Rangers begin a weekend series with the Mariners. He is not scheduled to pitch more than two innings before Ariel Jurado takes over. Erasmo Ramirez will start for Seattle. (Bronx, NY) — The Red Sox are AL East champions for the third straight year. They outslugged the Yankees 11-6 in New York to clinch the division. Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts all homered for Boston, which led 3-0 early and then trailed 6-4 before scoring seven unanswered runs. Giancarlo  Stanton hit a grand slam for New York.

Reports: Cowboys Bracing For Williams Suspension

(Frisco, TX) — Several outlets have reported the NFL will soon suspend Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams. He was arrested for public intoxication in May in Frisco. He is likely facing a two-to-four game suspension. The former Baylor star has two caches for 18 yards in the first two games.

Tiger Tied For Tour Championship Lead

(Atlanta, GA) — Tiger Woods is tied atop the leaderboard after the first round of the TOUR Championship in Atlanta. Woods eagled his final hole on Thursday to card a five-under 65 at East Lake Golf Club. Rickie Fowler is also at minus-five. Gary Woodland and Justin Rose are tied for third, one shot off the pace. Rory McIlroy is among three golfers at three-under.

Stars Beat Wild In Preseason

(St. Paul, MN) — The Stars topped the Wild 3-1 in a preseason game in St. Paul. Dallas is 2-and-0 in preseason, beating Minnesota and St. Louis. The Stars will play the Florida Panthers tomorrow night in Tulsa.
