(Cooperstown, NY) — The 2019 National Baseball of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place this weekend in Cooperstown, New York. Mariano Rivera, Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, Lee Smith and Harold Baines will be inducted on Sunday. Rivera is the first player to be voted in unanimously in his first year on the ballot.

Sod Poodles Fall Short In Loss To Springfield
(Amarillo, TX) – The Amarillo Sod Poodles rallied back from a six-run deficit, but lost 10-9 Thursday night at HODGETOWN in front of another sellout crowd of over 6,400. After Zach Kirtley broke the tie with a solo home run in the top of the ninth, the Sod Poodles rallied in the bottom of the ninth but fell short after Owen Miller came within a foot of a game-winner with a deep fly at the right-field wall. The two teams combined for 26 hits and 19 runs on the night. The Sod Poodles begin a series Friday night with the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, at HODGETOWN with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Holmes Leads Open Championship After Round One
(Portrush, Northern Ireland) — J.B. Holmes is the clubhouse leader after the first round of The Open Championship. Holmes carded a five-under 66 in Thursday’s opening round at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Shane Lowry is one shot back at four-under, while Brooks Koepka is among a large group tied for third at minus-three. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson both stumbled in their opening rounds. Woods, a three-time British Open winner, carded a plus-seven 78. Mickelson was just two shots better at plus-five. He won the Open Championship in 2013. The worst score of the day went to 2001 Open champ David Duval, who shot a staggering 91 which included a 14 on hole seven. Ryan Palmer starts the second round tied for 95th at 3-over.
Cowboys Report To Camp Next Week
(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys will open training camp a week from today in Oxnard, California. Rookies and veterans will report the same day. The Cowboys won the NFC East last season with a 10-and-6 record. They beat the Seattle Seahawks in the opening round of the post-season before losing at the LA Rams in the divisional round. The Cowboys first pre-season game is Saturday, August 10th in San Francisco against the 49ers.
Crawford Gets Plea Deal Before Camp
(Panama City Beach, FL) — Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford has entered a diversion program to get charges dropped after a March 15th bar brawl in Panama City Beach, Florida. He will have to compete an anger management assessment and be under supervised probation for six months. The NFL, however, could still discipline Crawford pending their investigation. He started 15 games and logged five-and-a-half sacks last season.

Chandler Signs With Rockets
(Houston, TX) — It is official. Veteran center Tyson Chandler signed a one-year contract with the Rockets. The 7-foot-1 Chandler has appeared in 1,134 career games, starting 881. He played with the Suns and Lakers last season.
Wings Fall In LA, Return Home Tomorrow
(Los Angeles, CA) — The Dallas Wings lost 69-64 to the Los Angeles Sparks at the Staples Center. Isabelle Harrison led the Wings with 14 points and nine rebounds. (Kansas City, KS) — FC Dallas will play tomorrow night at Sporting KC. Dallas is clinging to the final MLS West playoff spot with 29 points in 21 matches. Former Aggies Linebacker Adam Bob Dies
(Dallas, TX) — Former Texas A&M linebacker Adam Bob has died from a liver disease, his family announced. He was 51. Bob played with the Aggies from 1985-through-1988 and was named the most outstanding defensive player in the Cotton Bowl after the 1987 season, a 35-10 win over Notre Dame. The Jets drafted him in the 10th round in 1989 and he appeared in five games, his only NFL season. Services are pending at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas.
