Freda Powell Officially Announces Mayoral Campaign

Freda Powell has officially entered her name into the race for the next mayor of Amarillo.
Powell has served as a member of the city council for the previous 6 years as well as Mayor Pro Tem. and made the announcement at a press conference the morning of January 18th.
She identified five key points that would be her biggest priorities as mayor: safety for the community, financial stewardship, neighborhood revitalization, making the city a great place to do business, and respect for all.
Powell also said that some of her motivation for running was keeping stability on the council when so many are not running for reelection.
When asked if she ready for the challenge, Powell only had one thing to say.
The municipal election is set for May 6th.
