Former Safe Place Director Charged With Embezzlement

The Former Director of the domestic violence and sexual assault organization called Safe Place is being changed with embezzlement.

Heather Dawn Weidner was investigated by Texas Rangers for conspiracy to embezzle a federally funded program and embezzlement from a federally funded program.

From June 2018 to December 2018, she was charged with at least $8,400 to pay her rent, divorce attorney, multiple restaurant tabs, trips to the spa and other expenses.

Safe Place is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to domestic violence and sexual assault. The organization receives funding from a variety of sources, including state and federal grants.
