Former Assistant Fire Chief’s Death Reclassified

Former Amarillo Assistant Fire Chief Robert “Bob” Schwab, who passed away in 1973 while on duty, has had his death reclassified as a Line of Duty Death.

Despite the death occurring while he was at work, it did not meet that era’s criteria to be considered and honored as a LODD. Schwab died in February of 1973.

Schwab will now be recognized as the department’s second of five LODD’s. He will be honored with a ceremony at the Amarillo Civic Center’s Regency Room on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 9:30 a.m. with his family in attendance.
