Fire At Canyon Apartment Ruled Total Loss

An early morning fire has destroyed a Canyon Apartment building.

At 02:03 a.m. Saturday morning, The Canyon Fire Department was called to Canyon Crest Apartments at 1310 23rd street, on a report of smoke in building number 9.

When crews arrived on the scene they found smoke coming from the building. Canyon and WTAMU police officers were on location evacuating residents.

The  Randall County Fire Department along with BSA Medical Teams and The Amarillo Fire Department was called in to assist.

Once responders confirmed all the people were out of the building, a heavy fire started to show and the interior crews were immediately ordered to get out of the building. 

At 4:18 a.m. the fire was under control and the blaze was confined to Building 9 which was declared a total loss.
