Fatal Crash Outside of Groom

One man has died after a car crash in Donley County.

Around 4:45pm the afternoon of May 6th Texas Highway Patrol Troopers arrived at the scene, roughly 5 miles outside of Groom, to find one vehicle and a truck tractor engulfed in flames.

According to reports both vehicles were traveling eastbound on I-40 when the second driver rear-ended the first, leading to them becoming entangled and careening into the center median.

The driver of the first automobile, Xavier McKenzie, was pronounced dead at the scene by the county Justice of the Peace.

The crash is still under investigation.
