Fairly Trial Against Amarillo

The trial against the Amarillo City Council’s plan to build an addition to the Civic Center entered is’s second day on Wednesday.

Local businessman Alex Fairly is suing to halt the city from taking on a debt of 260-million-dollars in debt for the project.

Fairley is accusing the city of taking illegal actions including violations of the Open Meetings Act foe not giving proper notification of it’s plans.

City attorneys say an election on the question would skyrocket more than growing interest rates for a delay.

It also says the original plan in 2020, voters then turned around and reelected all of the city council members who were trying to solve the Civic Center problems.
