Elder Abuse Awareness Day

On Monday, the Amarillo City Council proclaimed Wednesday, Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

On Wednesday, The Texas Department of Familly and Protective Services held an event out at the Cadillac Ranch to paint the place purple to signify Elder Abuse, and the importance of keeping seniors safe from neglect and abuse.

Last year, the agency investigated 45 hundred cases of adults living alone in the Texas Panhandle and found 32 hundred of them suffered one or more forms of exploitation, abuse, or neglect.
