Early Morning Single Vehicle Wreck Injures One Man

One man is facing life-threatening injuries after a single vehicle accident early Friday morning in Amarillo.

At 12:33 a.m. Amarillo police were sent to the I-40 and I-27 interchange on a report of a wreck.

A truck was driving east on I-40 when the driver lost control and hit the south retaining wall along the interstate.

The vehicle then slid along the wall for several hundred feet.

The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say speed, alcohol, and lack of seatbelt usage are all factors in the crash.

The Traffic Investigation Squad of the APD is still working on this accident
