Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade

On Monday, January 21st, the Amarillo Branch NAACP’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade occurred, honoring the late Reverend.

The citizens that participated marched from the MLK Park towards Hughes Street, down to 3rd Avenue, then on to Polk Street, and finally arriving at the Potter County Courthouse, where the new officers to the Amarillo Branch NAACP were inducted.

The keynote speaker was Reverend Nell Newton of the Amarillo Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, along with a presentation of a proclamation from Mayor Ginger Nelson and the City of Amarillo, presented by Council Member Frida Powell.
