DPS Investigating Death of Amarillo Man

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating after an Amarillo man was killed in a crash in Potter County Thursday afternoon.

Around 5:35 p.m., DPS said 24-year-old Donald Encinias III was driving east on Loop 335 about one mile north of Amarillo.

Upon approaching the Western Street overpass, Encinias swerved to avoid debris in the road and lost control of his vehicle casing it to rolled down an embankment, ejecting him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The wreck is still under investigation.
