DPS Identifies Crash Victims

A young woman lost her life in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

Sergeant Cindy Barkley with the Texas Department of Public Safety stated that 19-year-old Abigail Walling was driving a 2007 Ford Focus on Bell Street when she stopped at the stop sign at McCormick Road and then pulled into the intersection.

A 2015 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck driven by 23-year-old Jesus Aguero of Amarillo was traveling east on McCormick Road and crashed into the driver’s side of Walling’s vehicle.

Walling was pronounced dead on the scene, and her passenger, 19-year-old Shailyn Hill, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Both Aguero and his passenger 25-year-old Brandon Reyes suffered no injuries.

All four involved were not wearing seat belts and the DPS continues to investigate.
